about

"With the purchase of two synthesizers around Christmas of 2023 came new horizons! The music for this track was started and finished in two days. The instruments used were a Behringer Pro-1, a Hydrasynth Explorer, and a Harley Benton JA-Baritone. The goal was to make a goth/metal hybrid that sounded wide and ethereal.

It would've been easy to come up with something romantic or sensual for the lyrics. But the lyrical inspiration came from an odd source: seeing a Huntress CD in a store. The first thing that came to mind was the fate of their singer, Jill Janus. I said out loud, 'it's a shame about her, the world lost a talent.' Curiosity got the best of me and I looked to see if any of Jill's or Huntress' social media accounts were still active. They existed, but with no new posts in years. Most comments on the latest posts were to the effect of "we miss you, Jill!" But naturally, there were comments such as 'I know where suicides go when they die,' 'suicides go straight to hell,' and 'suicide is the most selfish thing anyone can do.' There's nothing like putting down the dead to make the living feel superior, right? I hope for those people's sakes, they never have to suffer the way someone like Jill did. Having known people who've taken their lives, I don't think commentary and viewpoints like that help anyone. It's a subject I feel strongly about, so the lyrics came from that." -Killbot, February 2024

lyrics

Distorted transmissions, broken signals copped
From an unwilling hostage, seemingly worthless ransom.

Constant dreams of falling might not wake up
Disintegrating downstream, evaporate in time.

A desolate, destructive haze, chaos fog of life
A warm embrace could override the cold.

Washed over in an avalanche, eyes of judgment follow
Unless suffered together, the nightmare stays unknown.

Swimming through liquid captivity, reaching for hands before drowning down the stream.
